STUDENT Scholarships for convention attendance

To encourage Idaho's psychology students to experience the value of connecting with their future colleagues via their professional association, IPA members initiated a scholarship program, funded by their personal contributions, to support student involvement in IPA's Annual Convention.

NEW!  In addition to the general scholarship(s), a new EDI scholarship is available.  Also, scholarships will now cover all but $20 of the student registration fee required to attend IPA's Annual Convention.  Students may apply for both the general and EDI scholarship but may only receive one.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP(S):  IPA's Membership Committee coordinates the general scholarship(s).

Criteria
Applicant must be:

  • an IPA member and
  • a full-time psychology major, graduate or undergraduate, currently matriculating at an institution of higher education in Idaho; or
  • a pre-doc psychology student working on internship; or
  • a post-doc but pre-license completing post-doc supervision hours.

To Apply

Please complete this scholarship application request form.  Timing is everything!  Please read details below on when to submit your request.

Scholarship Requests for Convention Registration:  Requests for convention registration scholarships are reviewed once per year and should be submitted between January 1-31 to be considered.  Applicants will hear back by the last day in February.

Awards are based upon availability of funding and may change from year to year.

EDI SCHOLARSHIP:  IPA's EDI Committee is offering a separate scholarship.

Background and Reasoning:  IPA is committed to understanding how justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion work within our communities. This scholarship is intended to support the graduate training of those students pursuing a career in psychology with experience with marginalization. We are offering this scholarship to learn from applicants who promote social justice in their clinical work, research, and advocacy.

Priority will be given to individuals from marginalized communities, IPA members, and students who are presenting at the convention poster symposium. However, the application is open to all students whose work focuses on improving outcomes for marginalized populations.
